To Believe in the Future – Acreditar no Futuro
Birds are extraordinary and sometimes I envy them!
As aves são extraordinárias e às vezes invejo-as!
Besides the fact that they can fly, they don’t care about a budget or earning a living, about orders and taxes, investment and promotion. They just follow their instinct and get the best of what’s around … for free! More than that, they believe in the future!
Para além do facto de voarem, não se preocupam com o orçamento ou com ganhar a vida, com encomendas e impostos, investimento e divulgação. Limitam-se a seguir o instinto e a tirar partido daquilo que existe à sua volta … completamente grátis! Mais do que isso, acreditam no futuro!
Take this couple of Collared Doves for instance:
Vejam este casal de Rolas Turcas, por exemplo:
Since mid December, they have been repairing and rebuilding their nest: every single morning, they drop by it for a while and add some new sticks to it.
They just know for sure that there will be a breeding time in the near future. And even if it’s Winter now, they believe they will have enough shelter – and warmth – and food – for them as well as for their young!
Desde meados de Dezembro, têm estado a reparar e reconstruir o ninho: todas as manhãs, param por ali durante um bocado e acrescentam-lhe uns quantos pauzinhos.
Têm a certeza de que, num futuro próximo, haverá um tempo para fazerem criação. E, mesmo sendo agora Inverno, acreditam que terão abrigo – e calor – e comida – suficientes para eles e para os seus filhotes!
They’ve first nested on this tree in Spring 2012 (I’m guessing it’s the same couple…) and bellow are some pictures taken between April and August: follow the sequence, from eggs to juveniles!
Fizeram este ninho na Primavera de 2012 (penso que seja o mesmo casal…) e as fotos abaixo foram tiradas entre Abril e Agosto: vejam a sequência, desde os ovos até aos juvenis!
During last year, there were three broods by this (probably) same couple, in this nest: two eggs each, all successful, totalizing 6 new Collared Doves!
What are their expectations for this New Year of 2013, we don’t know…
But one thing is for certain: they believe they will make it!
No ano passado, houve três posturas deste (provavelmente) mesmo casal, neste ninho: com dois ovos cada, todos vingados, num total de 6 novas Rolas Turcas!
Quais serão as expectativas deles para este Novo Ano de 2013, não sabemos…
Mas uma coisa é certa: eles acreditam que vão conseguir!
